For some reason, Sara has loved to dance naturally since she was born.
Her singing and dancing talent is imprinted in her genes by her ancestors. Her mother once sentimentally said that Sara was far more obsessed with dancing like their ancestors than herself and Sara's grandmother.
During the day, the evening, and night.
At home, school, and playgrounds.
Regardless of the time and place, wherever Sara is, it becomes her stage when she is in the mood to dance.
For example, the inside of the subway at this very moment.
The reason she is in the mood to dance is a group of wandering artists who got on the train not too long ago. They have been chatting excitedly ever since they got on the train, and Sara heard them say that they had just held a concert worth bragging about for a long time in a nearby park.
"My brothers, let's show everyone that we can talk the talk and walk the walk! Since we have such a large audience, we gotta prove that we aren't bragging, right?"
*Drumbeat sounds* A man with a big beard started patting a djembe drum in front of him to set the beat. Without hesitating, the other guys start playing with their own instruments. Like a breeze, their rhythmic and bold performance refreshes everyone listening who is weary after getting off work.
Most passengers in the area enjoy the performance with a smile on their faces, even clapping their hands or stomping their feet to the beat from time to time.
But that isn't enough to satisfy Sara. Wouldn't it be a shame to just be a spectator in such a lively atmosphere?
"Can I join you?"
"Haha! Why not? Join us if you're brave enough, little girl!"
The bearded man looks at Sara curiously but also with his own agenda because he wants to watch a show and see what the girl in front of him is capable of. This city's subway has never stopped people from performing there, but the audience is also very "generous" with their harsh criticism if someone makes a fool of themself.
Sara removes her shoes and socks and ignores the surprised glances of her classmates as she twists her body gently to warm up. She then steps onto the "stage" leisurely to the sound of the music.
These people play what's probably a piece of traditional music from a certain land. In their melody, she can feel a scorching sun, glimpse the boundless wilderness, and hear the rhythm of life...
Although it was her first time hearing this melody, she is somehow able to blend in with it perfectly. She grasped the rhythm from the first beat, and her every movement was in harmony with the music.
Sara's passionate dance attracts the eyes of the spectators, especially the young men. With every jump she makes they feel like her toes are landing on the tips of their hearts...
"Sara! This is our stop!"
The impromptu joint performance ends when the train arrives at the station. Sara takes her time waving goodbye to the audience and the traveling artists and jumps out of the train just before the door closes.
"I knew you love to dance, but I never expected you to be able to dance so happily in public in front of so many people. Should I envy or admire your courage?
"Haha, aren't I always like this?"
Sara laughs off her classmate's teasing. She was just dancing—how brave do you need to be to do that?
To be spontaneous and do what you want is what dancing should be all about. It is also how life should be.
